Product Description Product DescriptionI. Product IntroductionTrichloroacetic acid, also known as trichloroacetic acid, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C2HCl3O2. It appears as colorless crystals, accompanied by a pungent odor, and is highly deliquescent. It can be well miscible with water, ethanol, ether, etc. II. Physical and Chemical PropertiesMelting Point: 57.5oCBoiling Point: 197.5oCDensity: 1.63g/cm3 (at 25oC)Solubility: Highly soluble in water, ethanol, and ether. Its aqueous solution is acidic, and the pH value of a 0.1mol/L aqueous solution is approximately 1.2. It is much more acidic than acetic acid, approaching that of hydrochloric acid. When its aqueous solution is heated to the boiling point, it will decarboxylate and decompose to produce chloroform and carbon dioxide. At the same time, it can react with a variety of inorganic and organic bases to form salts. III. Preparation MethodsAcetic Acid Chlorination Method: Using acetic acid as the raw material, chlorination is carried out in the presence of sunlight or a catalyst (such as sulfur powder).
