Pure tantalum, which has a Vickers hardness of merely 140 HV when annealed, is remarkably malleable, capable of being drawn into fine wire. It boasts a melting point of 2995°C, making it one of the highest among elements, surpassed only by carbon, tungsten, rhenium, and osmium. The metal's coefficient of thermal expansion is minimal, at just 6.6 parts per million per degree Celsius.
