Product Description Product Description A trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) is a type of ship capable of maintaining navigable waterways, deepening the maritime canals that are threatened to become silted, constructing new land elsewhere or replacing sand eroded by storms or wave action on the beaches. This is made possible by large, powerful pumps and engines able to suck sand, clay, silt and gravel.OperationPropertiesA trailing suction hopper dredger is self-loading/unloading and sometimes equipped with a pressurized discharging system.LoadingFrom the side of the ship one or two suction pipes descend to the bottom of the seabed. On the end of the pipe a so-called trailing drag head is connected. This head is comparable to a large vacuum cleaner and is trailed along the seabed. In the head there are nozzles connected to a high pressure water installation that are capable of loosening the material on the seabed. Due to lower pressure in the pipe, the material will be sucked inward and discharged in the hopper.The vessel should always have a positive speed over the ground. It is possible to regulate the density of the sucked substance. If the head is lowered, more material will be sucked but this risks damaging the installation because the material can get stuck inside the pipes. Once the mixture is loaded inside the hopper, the substance will sink and the water is discharged overboard, saving on storage space. A trailing suction hopper dredger can only suck relatively loose substance because the steel teeth are not so big. Harder substances such as rock or ironbased rock must be destroyed by a cutter.DischargingThere are several ways to discharge a TSHD. The most common way is dumping the material.Dumping - This is done by simply opening the doors that close the hopper. Once opened the substance will simply drop to the seabed because of gravity. The hopper will never be completely empty because there will always be some residue and water left inside.Pressing - High-pressure pumps will pump water inside the hopper to loosen or even liquefy the substance, which can then be pumped via long hoses over great distances (f.i. ashore)Rainbowing - This is the same principle as pressing, but instead of transporting the substance it will simply be blown away. This is often used to create land.Crane - It is always possible to discharge the load with a crane, but this will be a time-consuming process.EquipmentA trailing suction hopper dredger is equipped with the following equipment:One, or more, rearward extending suction pipesOne or more, Dredging pumps to create an under pressure in order to suck the substance into the hopperTransportation tubes to transport the substance from the pipes to the hopperAn overflow to discharge the redundant water overboardDegassing installation to extract any possible gas from the substance in order to reduce damage and increase fluencyDredge turning gland, allows a radial rotation in both directionsFunctionsA dredging vessel and particularly a TSHD is mostly used forMaintaining the depth of a harbor, canal or waterway.Constant delivery of sand for land reclamation or beach nourishment.TSHD Structure1. Dredger after construction and assembly all rusty surfaces, welding spots and damaged shop primer will be cleaned and coated with primer.*The painting of machine parts, readily supplied by third parties will be cleaned and touched -up in the original color. *Color scheme according to owner's specification.5, No-load Test* All the main equipment, including Engine, Gearbox, Pump, Hydraulic system.* Electric system, are tested for at least 2 hours in factory.*All the suppliers of the main parts should be on the spot to solve any problem.6, Dismounting and Packing*All the parts are marked before dismounting.*All the small parts are put into packaging box with a packing list.* All the hydraulic pumps and pipes joints are packed by plastic wrap.*Every part ( no matter how small ) is registered on the packing list.7, Delivery* All the big parts are fixed in the containers by wires ,* Before delivery, all the persons in charge should sign and make sure all the equipment are in good shape.Dredger Launching Site is Available in our ShipyardIn order to guarantee good performance and safety of our cutter suction dredger, all our products will be tested at the launching site before ex-factory, it is tested like the machine working in the customer's working site. Performance and safety will be tested and recorded in the testing process. Usually, the buyer can also supervised the testing process before dismantle the dredge.A. Preparing work before Dredger Testing1) Customers will be invited to watch dredger test , radio and pictures will email to buyers.2) Every parts and connections of dredger should be checked strictly before test.3) Oil and cooling water should be ready for dredger test.B. Dredger Test Contents1). Work condition of electricity connection of dredger should be checked .2). Emergency pump to check operation conditions of hydraulic controlling system,3). The speed and power of diesel engine should be tested4). Dredging pump will be tested and rotates at different speed with fresh water. 5). In order to check the operation of various hydraulic machinery and values, the main hydraulic pump will be opened and hydraulic system load performance should be tested.C. After Testing1). All equipment performances and testing recorded will be printed as report for customers' reference.2). after testing, all work about dredger dismantle should be prepared and let customer knows when and what time will do the delivery.
