Product Description Chemical name: Cocamidopropyl betaineCocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) is a mixture of closely related organic compounds derived from coconut oil and dimethylaminopropylamine.[CAPB is available as a viscous pale yellow solution and it is used as a surfactant in personal care products. The name reflects that the major part of the molecule, the lauric acid group, is derived from coconut oil. Cocamidopropyl betaine to a significant degree has replaced cocamide DEA.Molecular formula: C19H38N2O3Molecular weight: M=342.52CAS NO.: 86438-79-1Technical indexAppearance: colorless to light yellow transparent liquidActive matter (%): 30±2Sodium chloride (%): ≤7pH value: 6.0~8.0 Color (Hazen):≤50 Specifications and propertiesCocamidopropyl betaine is used as a foam booster in shampoos.[4] It is a medium-strength surfactant also used in bath products like hand soaps. It is also used in cosmetics as an emulsifying agent and thickener, and to reduce irritation purely ionic surfactants would cause. It also serves as an antistatic agent in hair conditioners, which most often does not irritate skin or mucous membranes. However, some studies indicate it is an allergen.[5][6][7]CAPB is obtained as an aqueous solution in concentrations of about 30%.Typical impurities of leading manufacturers today:Sodium monochloroacetate < 5 ppmAmidoamine (AA) < 0.3%Dimethylaminopropylamine (DMAPA) < 15 ppmGlycerol < 3%The impurities AA and DMAPA are most critical, as they have been shown to be responsible for skin sensitization reactions. These by-products can be avoided by a moderate excess chloroacetate and the exact adjustment of pH value during betainization reaction accompanied by regular analytical control.Features and applications: Cocoamidopropyl Betaine is an amphoteric surfactant, having good compatibility with anionic, cationic, nonionic and other amphoteric surfactants. Good softness, rich and stable lather, cleaning, conditioning, antistatic performance, good adjustment of viscosity. It retains stable within a wide range of pH values, and low irritation to skin and eye. Added in shampoo, it is matched with other active matter, and brings forth obvious conditioning and thickening effects. It can be used to prepare personal washing products, such as shampoo, bubble bath, facial cleanser, etc. As a kind of gentle modifier, it is especially suitable for baby's protecting agent.Storage: Store in cool and dry place, keep away from sunshine and rain.
