Product DescriptionProduct DescriptionActivated carbon with a particle size greater than 0.175 mm is usually called granular activated carbon (GAC), which can be divided into irregular carbon, columnar carbon, spherical carbon, briquette carbon, amorphous carbon, etc. It is often used as an adsorption medium in many surface water treatment plants.Granular activated carbon can be used for liquids and gases. Generally, the liquid or gas to be treated is passed through the granular activated carbon continuously. Granular activated carbon is suitable for continuous processes and can be designed with automated processes; it consumes less activated carbon, uses a high carbon/liquid ratio, is easier to clean and operate, and is easier to regenerate granular activated carbon, which has a relatively low cost of use.Powdered activated carbon is usually used for liquid applications. After adding liquid, it is stirred, mixed, filtered or settled to obtain the desired liquid. The advantages of using powdered activated carbon for treatment are: it is suitable for intermittent processes; it is easy to control the amount of addition; it can use ready-made filtering equipment, with low equipment investment costs and low prices.Application Areas1. Water treatment fieldDrinking water purification: remove organic matter, residual chlorine, odor, heavy metals (such as lead, mercury) and microorganisms in water.Wastewater treatment: treat toxic substances such as dyes, phenols, cyanides, etc. in industrial wastewater (such as printing and dyeing, electroplating, petrochemical wastewater).Groundwater remediation: adsorb pollutants such as petroleum hydrocarbons and pesticide residues.Aquaculture: maintain water quality and reduce the concentration of ammonia nitrogen and nitrite.2. Air purification and waste gas treatmentIndoor air purification: adsorb decoration pollutants such as formaldehyde, benzene, TVOC, and odors (such as smoke and pet odors).Industrial waste gas treatment: treat VOCs (volatile organic compounds), hydrogen sulfide, dioxins, etc., which are commonly found in the chemical, spraying, and printing industries.Gas masks/air filters: used for military, firefighting or industrial protection, adsorb toxic gases (such as chlorine and ammonia).3. Food and pharmaceutical industryFood processing: decolorization (such as refining of sugar and monosodium glutamate), removal of odor (such as oil refining).Pharmaceutical preparation: used for decolorization of liquid medicine (such as purification of antibiotics and vitamins), or as an antidote (such as first aid for accidental ingestion of drugs or poisons).4. Chemical and energy fieldsCatalysts or carriers: used in chemical reactions (such as vinyl chloride synthesis, phosgene production).Oil and gas recovery: adsorption of volatile oil and gas in gas stations and oil depots.Natural gas storage: increase storage density through adsorption.5. Electronics and high-end manufacturingSemiconductor industry: purification of ultrapure water or process gas, removal of trace organic matter.Lithium battery production: electrolyte purification, improvement of battery performance.6. Other special applicationsAgriculture: soil improvement (adsorption of pesticide residues or heavy metals).Laboratory: as a stationary phase or sample pretreatment for chromatographic analysis.Military/nuclear industry: adsorption of radioactive substances (such as iodine-131).
