When a conductor moves in a magnetic field, an induced electromotive force (E) is generated at both ends of the conductor perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic field and the direction of motion. This induced electromotive force is detected by two measuring electrodes, and its value is proportional to the flow velocity and the magnetic induction intensity of the magnetic field.
